Suspended between the sea and the sky of Viareggio, just above the entrance to the historic Bagno Amedeo beach resort, this apartment has its roots in one of the Art Nouveau buildings designed in the 1920s by Alfredo Belluomini, a key figure in Viareggio's seaside architecture. In this iconic location, where early 20th-century elegance meets the open light of the Tuscan coast, a radical and respectful renovation project takes shape, restoring identity and coherence to a space transformed over time.
The interior layout has been thoughtfully redesigned, adapting to contemporary needs while remaining faithful to the building's spirit. Where possible, the original fixtures have been recovered and restored to preserve their materiality and memory, and the extraordinary sea views have been enhanced: one in particular, from the bedroom, which offers a wide and bright view of the horizon and the island of Gorgona.
Project Gallery
The terrace, paved with cement tiles and a Venetian terrazzo carpet, has once again become a true extension of the home: a place for rest and contemplation, a space between domestic intimacy and the landscape.
In parallel with the architectural work, a tailored interior design project was developed, meticulously crafting each space: fitted walls, an integrated kitchen, a walk-in closet, and a study—every element was custom-designed to integrate with the apartment's atmosphere. Lighting was also conceived as an integral part of the project, with discreet and elegant solutions that complement the natural light and enhance the selected materials.
This project is not about nostalgia, but about reconnecting living with its context: reinterpreting forms and languages of the past with a contemporary twist, thus creating a home rooted in history yet open to the present.
